The term 'Kungfu' refers to a training of skills, not a learning of techniques.Sifu Wong Kiew Kit, 4th generation Shaolin-successor
Shaolin Kungfu is a martial art born in China's legendary Shaolin monastery. It is said to be the oldest unbroken martial tradition alive. The history of Shaolin Kungfu spans nearly 1500 years, during which it has branched to dozens if not hundreds of different kungfu-styles, such as Taijiquan, Wing Chun, Hung Ga, and Choy Li Fut -kungfu.
The combat techniques of Shaolin Kungfu are typically straightforward and effective, which are also the characteristics of Zen. However, its benefits are not only limited to self-defense: At its basic level, Shaolin Kungfu offers radiant health and vitality; at the middle level, the training facilitates efficiency and success in all areas of life; at the highest level, it is an effective method for spiritual cultivation, which is also the original purpose of Shaolin Kungfu.
Shaolin Kungfu is not for everybody. Its training, although always rewarding, is demanding, and calls for dedication, determination and perseverance to reach set objectives.
Shaolin Kungfu is equally suitable for men and women, and training can start basically at any age. However, a basic requirement is a reasonably good basic health for continuous and vigorous daily exercise.
